Italy Middle School Book Fair happening now

Italy Middle School’s 2nd annual book fair kicks off today. Students are welcome to shop between the hours of 7:45 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. each day through Thursday. The fair will open at at the same time on Friday, December 2, 2016, but will pack up on Friday at noon.

The Varsity and Junior High Gladiator Cheerleaders will be taking orders for Pink Out t-shirts beginning Monday, August 31 through Friday, September 11th. Order forms will be available at Mrs. Ballards’ foyer office on the Italy HS/JHS campus.

Italy Junior High 8th grade science class and the International Space Station

The 8th grade science class had the opportunity to link up with the International Space Station last week. The students were able to send photo requests during certain orbits to the astronauts. The students were studying weather so they were using a real time weather map while pin-pointing coordinates on the globe and requesting a photo from the ISS of the location. The students had a total of 250 photos taken.

Italy Junior High kicks off STAAR season with a Math Blitz

The First day of Italy Junior High School’s Math Blitz to get the 8th graders ready for the STAAR test was a awesome success. Students had a lot of fun and got their learn on. All IJHS 8th graders are more than welcome to attend on Wednesday, March 26th from 3-5 pm and on Thursday, March 27th from 3-5pm as well.

Speaker, Steven Adair to address IHS student body

Italy High School/Junior High School students from 7th to 12th will hear a presentation by speaker Steven Adair on Friday, October 25. This presentation will culminate the week long drug awareness campaign celebrated by the students. Adair’s presentation titled, “Hello, My Name Is,” is designed to challenge the students to evaluate themselves and the way they treat others around them — to live a life without labels.

IJHS holds a Science Fair

The Italy Junior High was able to include a Science Fair for an activity this year. The Science Fair was held in the dome and was hosted by Lindsey Thompson, Junior High Science teacher, and Catherine Hewett, 8th grade Science teacher, Biology and IPC (integrated physics and chemistry). With these two teachers, plans are to get the students excited about science and have fun learning.

Junior High Halloween Dance planned

The Italy High School freshman class will be sponsoring a Halloween Dance for 6th through 8th grade students of Italy Junior High and Stafford Elementary. The dance will be held on Saturday, October 27 from 8:00pm to 11:00pm in the old gym at the Italy High School campus.

IHS principal talks about getting serious in the fall semester

It’s 100º plus outside and the streets are scorching. Swimming and playing are things on the minds of IHS students, as well it should be. However, when August rolls around, school should be uppermost on the minds of students. Luckily we have someone looking out for our kids’ future and serious minded about it.

Italy Junior High Track team hurdles the competition

Italy Junior High Boys and Girls track teams gave it their all at the recent Itasca Jr High Track Meet. They ran with passion and had some incredible finishes. Participating schools in the event were Italy, Itasca, Rice, Blum, Dawson and Maypearl. Coached by Jeff and Heather Richters, the Gladiators took the track by storm.

IHS/JHS will have a modified arrival schedule for students on Wednesday, March 7

Italy High School/Junior High School has announced that there will be a special schedule next Wednesday for some of the students. This is due to ELA (English, Language Arts) Exit Level TAKS testing for the juniors and the ELA TAKS test for the sophomores. As a result the 7th and 8th graders, the freshmen as well as the seniors will be allowed to sleep in that day
