Valentine’s Dance this Saturday

The junior class is hosting a Valentine’s Dance on Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 9:00 – 12:00 for the 7th, 8th and 9th grade students of Italy ISD.  The dance will be held in the George Scott Gym.  The cost is $3.00 per person.  Concession stand will be open. 

Course Selection Sessions planned at Italy High/Junior High School

The administration and staff at Italy High School are asking that all incoming students, grades 7-12, complete new course requests sheets to sign up for recently added courses for the 2011-2012 school year.  There will be course selection sessions at the high school campus in the cafeteria.  Each session will begin with an overview of the courses offered and graduation requirements.  The school counselor and principal will be available to assist in making informed decisions regarding course selections.  

IJH Boys look strong against Irving North Hills

The Italy 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams thrilled fans inside the Italy Coliseum on Thursday. The 7th Grade team picked up their second win this season, both wins coming against Irving North Hills, while the 8th grade team lead for three quarters before losing by 2-points in their rematch with Irving North Hills.
Scores and stats from the Italy Jr High Girls’ games against Irving North Hills are also included at the end of this article.

Junior High KO’s Hubbard in 4 rounds, 26-6

Reminiscent of Rocky III, when Rocky Balboa was pitted against Mr. T’s Clubber Lang character, the Italy Junior High whipped the Hubbard Jaguars in four rounds of football. Hubbard, with only a tie on their record coming into the game, now have a loss to go with that tie thanks to a surging Italy Junior High team that improved their record to 2-1.

Italy’s 7th Grade football team beat the rain

Although Italy’s 7th Grade football team tied the Palmer Bulldogs 0-0 in their Thursday scrimmage, they did manage to beat the rain. Italy did forgoe it’s last offensive series due to lightning and ultimately rain. However, the 8th Grade and JV teams will have to wait until next Thursday against Malakoff.

Italy Students have success at Junior High UIL competition

Over forty 6th, 7th and 8th grade students from Stafford Elementary and Italy High School traveled to Wortham to participate in the A-plus Academic UIL meet on December 4 & 11. They participated as individuals and teams in events covering a wide variety of topics from math and science to speech and journalism.

Milford One Act Play brings home the awards

The Junior High level UIL One Act Play competition was held November 22nd at Frost ISD. Milford ISD took second place. Khristy Strange (co-director) said, “ I have enjoyed working with this group. We worked hard and it paid off. All of the kids were fantastic."

Louder, I Can’t Hear You

Yesterday evening at 7:00 PM Milford’s Junior High presented their one act play, “Louder, I Can’t Hear You”. Along with the play you could bid on delicious baked goods and also enjoy some ice cream while watching a great performance.
