Court clerk placed on administrative leave

City of Italy Court Clerk Susan Delephimne has been placed on paid administrative leave during an investigation by the Texas Rangers, according to Mayor Frank Jackson.

Jackson said the leave has nothing to do with Delephimne’s job performance as court clerk.

The council placed Delephimne on administrative leave Oct. 10, according to the mayor, after the Texas Rangers began investigating various allegations concerning Delephimne and the chamber of commerce.

“She is on leave until she gets all this straightened out,” Jackson said. “We’re giving her time to get it worked out. We need her back here but we’re doing what the attorney told us to do.”

The council hired a part time court clerk at the November council meeting. Jackson said the city had planned to add a part time clerk at the start of the budget year.

Delephimne said she had been instructed not to speak to the press regarding the investigation.
