The Lady Chilton Pirates seemed confident when they stepped onto the floor and it didn’t take the Lady Gladiators long to see why. Chilton’s Foster #12 scored 10-points herself in the firt quarter. Strong rebounds by Jimesha Reed and Kaitlyn Rossa went wasted as Italy was plagued by turnovers and missed shots. Italy’s Reed scored 1-point when she split a pair of free throws. Becca Demoss swished a 3-pointer but Chilton showed no signs of letting-up as the first quarter ended 15-4.

The second period was more of the same for Italy. Unable to get a handle on any passes or drop any shots, Italy’s offense was making it easy for Chilton’s fast breaking squad. The Lady Pirates were leading 19-4 with 5:30 left in the second period when DeMoss attacked the lane for 2-points. DeMoss’s shot made the score 19-6. Chilton, however, would go on a scoring spree putting in 12-straight points. Reed would get fouled on a power move and split the free throws with less than a minute left in the second period. The first half ended mercifully with Chilton leading big 31-7.

Chilton struck first with a score off the inbound pass to add to their lead 33-7.
Shay Fleming passes to DeMoss who knocks down another 3-pointer making the score 33-10. Chilton tries to answer but Reed rebounds the missed shot and outlets to DeMoss who finds Rossa on the block. The shot doesn’t fall but Reed fights for the rebound. DeMoss winds up with the loose ball and hits another 3-pointer. The score is now 33-13 at the 5:55 mark in the third.

Chilton managed the next 4-points attempting to derail Italy’s new found momentum. Still trying to rally, Freshman Megan Richards sets a screen for DeMoss who drills her 3rd 3-pointer in the third period. That effort makes the score 37-16 heading into the fourth.

To begin the fourth, Reed battles for a rebound and passes back to Fleming under the hoop to make the score 37-18. Chilton leads 42-18 when Reed drives for a layup making the score 42-20. With 4:45 left in the game, Reed would answer a Chilton score to make it 44-22.

With 2:22 remaining, Marisela Perez pushes the ball to Reed who gets fouled on the shot but splits the free throws again. The score is now 46-25. After a strong rebound by Rossa that doesn’t earn any points for Italy, Reed scores on a last second layup to end the game 46-27 in favor of Chilton.
