Milford ISD’s Christmas Concert
Thursday, the 11th of December the Milford ISD gymnasium was filled with Christmas music, excited students ready to sing and proud parents waiting anxiously for the Christmas concert to begin.
The concert started off with Corri Dawkins (4th grader) singing a solo, Santa Baby, followed by the high school band playing “Green Sleeves”, “Hark the Herald Tubas Sing” and “Swinging Holiday.”
Next up were the Pre- K, Kindergarten and first grade classes singing “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” and “Jingle Bells” with some of the most enthusiasm seen in a long time. The 7th grade band followed playing “O Come All Ye Faithful”, “Frosty the Snowman” and “Holly Jolly Christmas.”
Second and fourth grade was up next singing, “Someone’s in the Chimney”, followed by the sixth grade band playing their rendition of “Jingle Bells” and “Jolly Old St. Nicholas.”
“O’ Tannenboom” was performed by the 3rd graders using boom whackers. Boom whackers look like fancy wooden sticks that the third graders used to keep time to the music.
Last but not least, the fifth grade band played “Quiet Evening” and “Jolly Ole St. Nicholas” on their recorders.
“We are just excited that this season gives the students a chance to show off their talents and perform for their parents. It really gives them a chance to know what they can do and builds self confidence and lets these kids know they have talent. We are so glad we have so many out tonight to help us appreciate and celebrate this season,” stated Marilee Byrne (principal).
Mike Trussell (band director) said, “We have 240 kids in this program, we have practiced all day long. We have had a lot of fun, and we got to share some Christmas music. We had a great crowd tonight. We are very pleased that everyone could come out tonight and have some fun.”
Put another feather in Mike Trussell’s cap!
