Varsity Girls show no leniency for Grand Prairie

In the ‘Court of Basketball’ the Italy Lady Gladiators were found guilty of stealing passes, using excessive force in the post and for attempted assault with deadly outside shooting weapons. The minutes filed by the All-District Attorney read as follows:

continue playing Lady Gladiator Basketball, are:

DeMoss (Sr) – 1 year for being the ring leader
Figueroa (Sr) – 1 year for multiple lane violations
Fleming (Jr) – 2 years for bank shooting
Perez (So) – 3 years for cutting and slashing
Reed (Fr) – 4 years for terrorizing opponents
Rossa (Fr) – 4 years for hustling and distributing
Birdsong (Fr) – 4 years for driving fast down the lane
Richards (Fr) – 4 years for pulling the trigger

1st Round of Charges
7:45 – #5 Becca DeMoss (Ring Leader) steals and drives for a layup, Italy up 2-0.
6:52 – DeMoss passes to #32 Shay Fleming who jump stops and pops, 4-0 Italy.
5:10 – #3 Kaitlyn Rossa steals and drives in for the layup making the score 6-0.
4:30 – Fleming passes to DeMoss who hits a 3-pointer, the score is 9-0.
4:16 – Rossa steals and speeds down the lane for the layup, Italy leads 11-0.
4:00 – DeMoss gets fouled on the drive and hits both free throws, 13-0 Italy.
3:50 – Eagles score at the end of the fast break, GPAA are trailing Italy 13-2.
3:32 – Eagles score again out of self defense, 13-4 is the score.
2:15 – DeMoss passes to Rossa who hits a short jumper in lane, Italy leads 15-4.
1:50 – Italy’s #40 Jimesha Reed gets fouled and hits 1 free shot, 16-4 Italy.
1:10 – DeMoss steals again and scores again, Italy still leads 18-4.
0:22 – DeMoss steals again and scores again and Italy still leads 20-4.
0:01 – Eagles score and duck out of bounds trailing Italy 20-6, end of 1st period.

2nd Round of Charges
7:33 – Italy’s #10 Kyonne Birdsong hits 1-of-2 free shots, Italy leads 21-6.
6:15 – Italy’s #21 Blanca Figueroa passes to Birdsong who scores, 23-6 Italy.
3:39 – Fleming makes a move and hits form top of lane, Italy’s up 25-6.
2:22 – Rossa makes a power move for a score and Italy leads 27-6.
1:18 – Eagles return fire and hit their mark to tighten things up a bit, 27-8.
1:15 – Rossa sneaks into the lane and banks it in giving Italy a 29-8 advantage.
0:52 – Rossa scores to give Italy the lead at halftime 31-8.

7:45 – Italy steps out of locker room blasting away as Reed hits, 33-8 Italy.
7:26 – DeMoss gets fouled and hits 1-of-2 free throws and the score is 34-8.
6:25 – Italy’s #22 Megan Richards swishes a jumper making the score 36-8.
5:25 – Fleming passes to Rossa who delivers to Shay for a layup, 38-8 Italy.
4:35 – Reed misses free shot but Birdsong flies in for the board and scores 40-8.
4:15 – Italy donates to charity throwing off judges, Italy sill has the lead 40-10.
3:38 – Reed turns a deflected lob into points to make it 42-10.
2:55 – Reed rebounds and gets fouled hitting 1 free shot, 43-10 Italy.
2:12 – Reed scores inside to make it 45-10.
1:35 – Reed to Birdsong who speeds all the way to the house, 47-10 Italy leads.
1:05 – Fleming drives for a layup to make the score 49-10 after the 3rd.

4th Round of Charges
7:30 – Perez passes to Rossa giving Italy a 51-10 advantage.
7:05 – Richards steals resulting in a Rossa bucket giving Italy a 53-10 lead.
5:52 – Eagles beat the press for a layup to make the score 49-12.
5:22 – Richards hits from the right baseline to make the score 55-12.
5:03 – Eagles hustle for a basket to make it 55-14.
4:00 – DeMoss steals, drives the length of the floor to make the game 57-14.
3:49 – Eagles get a hoop to make the game 57-16.
3:37 – DeMoss passes inside to Reed for a bucket making the score 59-15.
2:30 – DeMoss steals and dishes to Birdsong who makes the final score 61-16.

The charges were eventually dropped since both coaches settled off the court with a handshake after the proceedings.
