Gladiators caged Eagles in Oak Clif
UPDATE: Due to the inclement weather, Varsity games will be played on Wednesday, Jan. 28 in Itasca, beginning at 5:00 pm.
The Gladiators, both ladies and gentlemen, traveled to Oak Clif on Friday night. The varsity teams took to the court and performed outstanding basketball and added another notch on their district belt.
The Lady Gladiators took the opportunity to wish head Coach Stacy McDonald a “happy birthday” with song and cake, and of course, a win. The final score was Italy 67 and Faith Family 55. Coach McDonald commented, “Friday was a great team effort. They showed a lot of heart. I was pleased with their determination in
the second half to put it away. Beating Faith at their place was a huge
victory for our team.”
The Gladiators showed no difference in playing as they took the Eagles and pushed them over the edge of the cliff.
The first quarter was dismal as the Eagles only scored 2 points to Italy’s 22. When the second quarter ended, Faith Family had only put 1 more ball in the basket and the score was 41-4. The third quarter did not see any improvement for the Eagles. The buzzer sounded at 49-4. The final score showed the Gladiators to be the better team and head Coach Kyle Holley said, “What can you say? There is nothing left to add to that.” The final score was Italy 60 and Faith Family 14.
Due to weather, the next games have been re-scheduled to Wednesday, Jan. 28 in Itasca. Only the Varsity teams will play. Everyone is invited to cheer our Gladiators to victory.
