Stafford Elementary to Celebrate Lincoln’s 200th Birthday
Stafford Elementary will join the rest of the nation to celebrate the 200th anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln’s birth on February 12, 2009.
Activities will include a special D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) time from 1:30-2 p.m. where everyone in the school — students, teachers, paraprofessionals, and office staff — will read for 30 minutes in honor of President Lincoln’s love of reading and his support of all education.
The library will be presenting free books to all students in grades CBI, PreK through 2nd grade while 5th and 6th grade classes will choose one to two students to dress as Abe Lincoln and send to the younger students to read.
Following the D.E.A.R. time, the library will provide birthday cupcakes for every student at Stafford.
