What a difference a day can make! After a bad game last Friday the Lady Gladiators came out on Monday like they had something to prove. And prove they did! Our “Ladies” beat Waco Connally 10-4 in a pre-season contest.

With a team batting average of a .387 during this game, it is not a stretch to say that Italy’s bats came alive. Leading the offense was Megan Richards who batted .1000 for the evening. Not too far behind in those stats was Cori Jeffords (with a double and 5 RBI’s) and Marisela Perez, both batting .667, and Abby Griffith with a .500 batting average.

Defense was spot-on as well. Courtney Westbrook was in the pitching circle for the Lady Gladiators racking up 8 strike-outs and allowing 6 hits. The defense behind Courtney did their job, keeping their mistakes in check and making routine outs when the ball was put into play.

Good job ladies!

Other Noteable Stats:

  • Courtney Westbrook – .400 batting average
  • Drew Windham – .333 batting average
  • Abby Griffith – 2 RBI’s

The Lady Gladiators will go on the road for the next couple of weeks. Their next home contest will be their district opener against Covington on March 24th. Game time 5:30 p.m. Be there!
