I.P.D. PRESS RELEASE:

March 5, 2009

Italy Police Department, Italy, Texas

Released by: Chief C.V. Johns

A long exhausting 12 month investigation concluded early this morning with the arrest of 4 people of Italy.

Officers of the Italy Police Department, the Ellis County Narcotics Task Force, Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, Ennis and Red Oak Police Department served felony arrest and search warrants simultaneously at 504 Farrow St. and 501 E. Hwy 34 #10 early this morning for the sale and distribution of crack cocaine and other illegal narcotics.

It’s believed that these warrants and arrests will result in putting a damper on the distribution of crack cocaine and other illegal narcotics in the city of Italy and Southern Ellis County.

We are well aware that everyone guilty of selling narcotics in our city were not named in these warrants, but there is always tomorrow, next week, next month or next year.

You never know who you may be buying from or selling to. When I became Chief in November of 2008, I was made aware of the known drug problem in Italy and how these people were untouchable.

Dedicated, professional police officers never believe someone is untouchable, it just takes longer to make your cases. Our children are our future, and we as police officers along with each and every parent and citizen are bound to protect our future.
