Gladiators turn it on in the off-season

Making a Gladiator

What does it take to be an Italy Gladiator? What does it take to earn the right to walk out on the field, under the lights, in front of hundreds of cheering fans on Friday nights?

What would it take to hear that echoing click when you snap on the Gladiator helmet inside the fieldhouse?

What challenges must be faced before being allowed a chance to hear the ricocheting sound of a cleated army stomping against the concrete floor. To feel the slapping thuds over the doorway beat like drums….like drums leading a soldier into battle.

To have the band continue that beat as the game tears on keeping your heart pounding, constantly reminding you what you are fighting for. To have cheerleaders and boosters and trainers and coaches and everyone helping you win it for all of us.

What does it take?

What kind of sacrifice must be laid down before you can fly-out to send the winning run home next baseball season? How can you muster the inner-strength it will take to connect with the ball in that moment?

What kind of commitment does it take to break the tape and finish 1st before all others? How can you be a hero, how can anyone possibly endure and win the heat in the bitter cold?

What is the price that must be paid before banking in the shot that sends the Gladiator Basketball Team back? What can you possibly do to become a legend, a memory that’s never forgotten….to have your team honored as one of the best ever?

What does it take?

There is only one way all these dreams can become reality, and that’s through hard work which can be seen right now in the off-season program at Italy High School.

Stretching, running and weight lifting mixed with sweat, grit and winning attitudes are the ingredients for a successful 2009-2010. Is it in you?

There are no guarantees. No refunds. Only a truth. A truth that it will all be worth it…but you have to BELIEVE.

What does it take?

It takes You….All of You!
