The Lady Gladiators rolled past the Avalon Eagles this past Tuesday beating them 17-1 in three innings. Game highlights include a triple by 2nd baseman Cori Jeffords and pitcher Megan Richards striking out 9 of the 11 batters that she faced during the contest.

This Friday our Ladies will take on the Hubbard Lady Jaguars. This will be the game to see. Hubbard and Italy are so evenly matched that their scores against the same opponents have been almost identical. The difference being that Italy has allowed runners to score (only 2) and to date Hubbard has allowed none, blanking every opponent. Hubbard, coached by former Lady Gladiator softball coach, Mike Saucke, advanced to the Regional Quarter Finals last year. Needless to say an Italy win over Hubbard would give a clear indication of the playoff potential that this year’s softball team has in Conference 1A.

Friday night’s game is at home and the game time has been moved to 6:30. Yes, you’re right, it is the same time as the Italy boys’ Baseball game but the Lady Gladiators need you, the fans, to come out and help them get this win. I feel confident that our Ladies will give it their all out on the dirt. Please come and cheer them on to help make this victory happen.
