On Tuesday night Italy hosted Avalon in a district game at Davidson Field. Both teams were ready to play until the end. They never gave up. With the ending score of 13-3 at the top of the 5th, however, the Gladiators were able to put another mark in the win column.

Head Coach, Matt Coker, was very excited about another win under their collective belt, “I told the kids that I was happy about the win, but I was not pleased with our slow start on offense. We finally started to have a plan and an approach at the plate in the 4th and 5th innings. I told the kids that we need to start the game focused and ready to go from the first pitch to the last. We cannot be a team that turns it on and off like a light switch. Jasenio Anderson (2-0) did a great job on the mound for us. In his complete game victory, he had 10 strikeouts and only gave up three hits. This was Jasenio’s first start at pitcher this season. I challenged the players to really have two great practices on Wednesday and Thursday, and be ready to get after Grand Prairie Advantage on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 on Friday at home.”

Top hitter: Justin Buchanan went 3-3 with 2 Singles and a triple. He also had four
RBI’s.

Ladies and gentlemen, you need to come to a baseball game. It is fun and exciting, and downright American. You are invited to come Friday night and cheer on the Gladiators. Right now, the Gladiator district record is 5-1.
