Due to necessary changes to the schedule, the Lady Gladiators will be on the road for the rest of the season. With that said, Tuesday was Senior Night for the Lady Gladiators. Seniors Angelica Garza and Blanca Figueroa were escorted onto the field by their teammates and presented flowers. After a few snapshots were taken it was all business the rest of the night.

Our Ladies made quick work of the Dawson lineup in the top of the first inning. One fly ball and two strike outs later the Lady Gladiators were up to bat. Almost batting the entire lineup, Italy put five runs on the board before the inning was over.

Adding two more runs in the 2nd and 4th innings, the score was 6-0 going into the 6th inning. During the 6th, Dawson made an attempt to make an contest of this very lopsided game by putting two runs up on the board. Italy answered back with another run themselves when Drew Windham came in off of a Megan Richards double (see video footage of her hit).

In the top of the 7th, Dawson came out swinging scoring two more runs. No worries, the Lady Gladiators worked together getting the needed outs to end the Dawson rally and the game.

Italy won the game 8-4 and now has a 4-1 record going into the second half of district.

I wanted to make mention of two outstanding catches made by two of the Lady Gladiator outfielders. During the 6th inning, left fielder Alma Suaste made an outstanding catch in a full sprint and then in the 7th inning, right fielder Marisela Perez made an beautiful diving catch to seal the deal and send Dawson back to the bus.
