Thursday evening at 6:30 PM at Milford ISD, the cafeteria was buzzing with excitement. It was Milford ISD’s annual International Dinner night.

The International Dinner was started by Mr. Talamatez when he used to be the Superintendent for Milford ISD. He came over to Milford ISD from Hubbard ISD. It was a tradition at Hubbard ISD to have an International Dinner once a year. “Mr.Talamatez thought it was a good time to get the community involved, get the community to come in to the school and meet the teachers and staff,” explained Joanne Dahl (worked for the Milford School district for thirty eight years). So Talamatez started the tradition for Milford ISD and they have been doing this for twenty five years.

Joanne said, “The PTO supplies the meat as a rule and then each person coming will either bring a covered dish or a desert. If they don’t bring a dish it is ten dollars per family to come and eat.”

“The elementary students do all the decorations on the tables. The theme in their decorations was a representation of different countries. The menu was chicken and brisket for the meat. The Pot luck we have tonight is spaghetti, enchiladas, American dishes and Mexican dishes. It is meant to represent the different cultures in our community,” explained Marilee Byrne (Milford ISD principal).

Superintendent Don Clingenpeel said, “This was the twenty-fifth annual International Dinner and we are just tickeled to death to keep it going.”
