The Ellis County Art Association was proud to sponsor the 2009 Ellis County Youth Art Exhibit that took place the first of April. Touted to be one of the most impressive youth art events in North Texas, it is a show case for original art by children residing in Ellis County enrolled in public, private or home school grades K through Twelve.

There were First, Second, Third and Honorable Mention awards given in every grade level. They had one thousand entries this year and one of the Blue Ribbon winners was one of our very own First graders at Stafford Elementary. The First place winner from Italy, Texas was Sydney Lowenthal.

The art projects were judged on originality, color and design.

Sydney said, “I made swimming snowmen and a big octopus and big faces out of clay. I won first place. It took me a long time. My art project was on display at the museum in Waxahachie. I got a blue first place ribbon. It was fun, my hands got sweaty when I was molding the clay. It came out really nice because it was really fun.”

Sydney’s art project, “Swimming Snowmen” was displayed in the Ellis County Art Association Center for five days, April 6th through the April 10th.

The Ellis County Art Association has this exhibit every year.

Congratulations Sydney! Job well done.
