Strike 1, strike 2, strike 3! You’re out! That’s about what it sounded like for the Avalon Eagles during the last district game of the Italy Gladiators. The boys drove to Avalon to present their last defense of the district season and did a great job doing it. The final score was 10-0 with the Gladiators finishing with a district record of 10-2.

Coach Matt Coker said, “I am so proud of the entire team! They have come so far. Last year they had one win and this year they went to 10. The kids have worked hard and given big effort. They have competed hard at every game.”

Jase Holden pitched this game and was resoundingly victorious. “Jase threw strikes and kept the ball on the mound and let the defense play. Also, Alex DeMoss and Dan Crownover did a great job on the bases.” Coker replied.

The top hitters for the game were the following players:
Desmond Anderson-2 for 2, 1 RBI and scored 2 runs
Ryan Ashcraft-1 for 3, 2 RBI’s
Josh Milligan-1 for 3, 1 RBI and scored 1 run
Jase Holden-1 for 4, 1 RBI and scored 1 run

Coach Coker is in the process of pulling together a warm up game before the Gladiators go to play-offs. The schedule for both is forthcoming to the public. Come watch these boys play! It is thrilling and exciting to see their enthusiasm and hard work.
