Tuesday evening Milford ISD’s cafeteria was filled with proud parents, teachers and students. Everyone was gathered to honor and watch the newest members of the National Honor Society be inducted.

Marilee Bryne (Principal), started the program out by explaining that Milford ISD had seven students to be inducted into the National Honor Society and that this was the largest group Milford ISD has ever had.

It is quite an honor to be accepted into the National Honor Society. The students accepted have excellence in four areas – scholarship, leadership, service and character. These characteristics have been associated with the National Honor Society since their beginning in 1921.

It has been tradition for Milford ISD for the current members of the NHS to come together to welcome and honor those students chosen to be next years members.

The current members of NHS are: Desiree Singleton, Derek Williamson, Gustavo Gallegos and Humerto Muniz.

Brianna Ross, Jamar Davis, Laura Harvey, Jamie Johnson, Ashley Ross, Tapley Strange and Rolondo Vega are Milford ISD’s newest National Honor Society members.

Mr. Clingenpeel (Superintendent) said, “We are just so excited for these young ladies and gentlemen and we are looking forward to another great year.”

“I really appreciate all of these students. This is one of the largest classes that we have inducted here. These students are really going to be top notch NHS members. I am looking forward to working with them next year.” explained Mr. Chambers (NHS Advisor).

Byrne said, “This is the largest group that we have ever been able to induct into the National Honor Society here at Milford. We are excited about the caliber of the kids and the progress that the organization has made here. We haven’t had a chapter for very long, we have had it here for just a couple of years and it is starting to take hold. The kids want to strive now to be a member of that organization. They are doing some neat services that they have come up with on their own to do instead of having to be prodded by administration and advisors, so we are excited and very proud of these students.”

Congratulations Honor Society Students! Keep up the good work Milford ISD!
