May 5th, 2009 was Chris Baker’s first day as the new Marketing Director at Trinity Mission in Italy. He came to Trinity Mission from Austin, but he is no stranger to Ellis county. He was born and raised in Waxahachie, Texas and graduated from Waxahachie High School. He now resides in Milford along with his grandparents Albert and Iona Carter.

Baker graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas in 2007 with a bachelors degree in Science Sociology. After graduating from college Chris went to work for a furniture store in Austin as their web master. When the economy took a downward slide the furniture store had to close it’s doors. So, Chris decided to come back towards home to see what he could do here. He applied for the position as marketing director at Trinity Mission and was hired.

When asked what his job entailed Baker said, “I am in charge of new patients being admitted into our facility and am also in charge of internal marketing and external marketing.”

When I asked him to explain what internal marketing was, he explained that he will help to keep up the morale of the staff. He will be instituting “Employee of the Month” and small competitions between departments to name just a few.

One of the competitions between departments is called, “Back Pack Roundup.” The way this works is each department is asked to collect as many school supplies as they can. The department that collects the most is the winner. The winning department will be treated to a day of fun, maybe a movie, a dinner – something fun. Then the back packs with all the school supplies will be given to Stafford Elementary and Milford ISD.

Baker is also trying to get the community more involved at Trinity Mission. He is instituting “Summer Movie Nights.” The movies will be outdoors on the West Lawn and they are free. You bring your own lawn chairs and blankets, showtime begins a 7:00 PM, all children and teenagers must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. There will be concessions available to purchase – no coolers or alcoholic beverages will be allowed. You are encouraged to come early to pick your spot and enjoy the movie.

The movie line up is:

  • July 24th – Wall-E
  • August 14th – Journey to the Center of the Earth
  • August 28th – Madagascar
  • September 11th – Race to Witch Mountain.

All the movies are Disney films and are family friendly.

Chris is not stopping with “Movie Nights”, he plans to have a garage sale in August, a Halloween Carnival in October for school children that will have a bounce house, candy, booths with games and a booth for bobbing for apples. Also he is planning a nice Thanksgiving dinner for the residents and their families.

Baker is delighted to be at Trinity Mission and said, “Everyone is so welcoming, I really like the citizens of Italy, everyone is so helpful especially during severe weather, they come and help with the residents. I am so appreciative of that.”

We are sure glad you are here Chris Baker. Welcome!
