On Monday this week, members of the junior high and high school bands under the direction of head band director Jon VanOmmeren performed a Christmas concert at Trinity Nursing and Rehab.

Trinity Mission has an angel tree and have many angels on it. They are hoping to have all the angels off the tree.

Recently at Trinity Mission, residents could be seen petting and loving a beautiful dog by the name of Phoebe. Even visitors coming to visit loved ones couldn’t resist stopping and petting this beautiful and loving dog.

When you walked into Trinity Mission Thursday mid morning all the staff members were wearing their pajamas! Why you ask? Because they were having their Christmas party for the residents and they wanted it to be like everyone just woke up on Christmas morning ready to enjoy Christmas.

Marie Wood has been the administrator on and off for Trinity Mission for over 15 years. She has decided to retire and spend more time with her family. Her gentle manor and smiling face will truly be missed.

The Tree of Memories at Trinity Mission was held last Thursday evening to honor and recognize the residents that passed away this year. Family members of loved ones that passed away this year were invited to come and share memories about their loved ones and put an angel on the ‘Tree of Memories’ in their name.

It was an invasion of the cutest little elves you ever saw at Trinity Mission Tuesday right around 1:30 PM! Who am I talking about you might ask? It is the kindergarten class of Avalon ISD of course!

Stafford Elementary first and second graders brought Christmas cheer to the residents of Trinity Mission on Tuesday morning. It was also pajama day at Stafford Elementary so all these beautiful students were singing Christmas songs in their pajamas. It made you think it was Christmas morning and everyone was up early to see what Santa left under the tree!

As you walked into Trinity Mission Thursday evening you were greeted with smiling residents, family members and friends. Not to mention all the beautiful Christmas trees and decorations making the spirit bright.

Chris Baker started his position as director of marketing for Trinity Mission May of 2009. His last day was January 7th, 2011 when he decided to take an administrative position at an assisted living facility in Forth Worth. Now he is back at Trinity Mission as the director of marketing again with a very happy heart.

At 6:00 PM Thursday, December 12th Trinity Mission will have an Open House event. There will be fun, entertainment and light refreshments for all. So come on out and join in with the fun with the residents, friends and family at Trinity Mission.

There were 8 birthdays celebrated this month of September at Trinity Mission. And of course there was cake and ice cream for all, along with lots of smiling faces.

Seven birthdays were celebrated in the month of August at Trinity Mission. As always there was cake and ice cream for all and smiles all around.

July is the month of celebrations such as July 4th, National Baked Bean Month, National Hot Dog Month, National Ice Cream Month, National Picnic Month and July birthdays at Trinity Mission!

June birthdays were celebrated at Trinity Mission with two birthday cakes this time. The smiles were so bright it was hard to see the candles on the cake!

Trinity Mission took time to recognize and honor the nurses aides during the week of National Certified Aides Appreciation week celebrated June 13th through June 20th.

Birthday celebrations are here again for the residents of Trinity Mission. And of course they were celebrated with their usual flare, serving ice cream and cake for everyone.

Everyone loves Easter at Trinity Mission. Easter usually means spring weather should be coming soon, gardens to be planted and Christ is celebrated. What could be better?

Easter is not the only thing to be celebrated at Trinity Mission in the month of March. Resident’s birthdays were also celebrated with lots of fun.

February is the month of the year known for Valentines Day. Everyone loves Valentines Day especially residents at Trinity Mission. You know, cookies, Valentine Queen and King nominations and crowning of the winners! But Valentines Day is not the only special event in February at Trinity Mission.

Trinity Mission celebrated Valentines Day with flair as usual! And of course the usual fair of punch and lots of valentine cookies was there for all to enjoy.

Celeste Carroll is no stranger to Italy. She has resided here for eleven years. She has worked for the Italy High School as the secretary to the superintendent and now is the new Activities Director for Trinity Mission.

When we think of January we think of cold, cold weather, sometimes snow and sometimes cold winds whistling through the air in Texas. But the cold never touched Trinity Mission in January, because there were so many warm birthday wishes being offered to the birthday residents that no one could ever be touched by the cold.

After almost ten years of service to Trinity Mission as the activities director Carolyn Powell is retiring. It will be a sad day at Trinity Mission. Her last day will be January 31st.

Ho! Ho! Ho! That is what Santa said when he visited Trinity Mission for the residents’ Christmas celebration. And what a celebration it was! The staff out did themselves as usual, but this time they went all out. They put on a talent show that could not be beat!

What could be better than being serenaded with Christmas songs sung by the cutest little first and second graders while you eat your afternoon meal? Nothing I can think of could be better.

If you think it is just the turkeys that were being celebrated and fussed over in the month of November think again! All the residents at Trinity Mission with November birthdays were also being celebrated in the Thanksgiving month.

For the first time at Trinity Mission they are hosting an Angel Tree for the residents. As you enter the building you see many beautiful Christmas trees, six in all, decorated with pretty lights and gorgeous decorations. You will see a beautiful Christmas tree in the dining room that truly belongs to the residents. The residents hand made all the ornaments, paper chains and even hand strung popcorn garland.

Trinity Mission was filled with family and friends recently for their annual Thanksgiving Feast. The tables were beautifully set with fall colors. The staff members truly out did themselves this year serving everyone with a smile, making the Thanksgiving Celebration a grand one for all.

There were only two birthdays at Trinity Mission for the month of October but that didn’t stop anyone from having lots of fun. The celebration was full of fun, ice cream and cake! Jack Guthrie and Virginia Roderick were the birthday folks this month.

Halloween, what a fun time everyone has for this occasion. Although I don’t know who has more fun than the folks at Trinity Mission. Each year they share their Halloween spirit with the Stafford Elementary students by putting on a fall festival complete with games, candy and lots of fun.

There were seven birthdays this month at Trinity Mission. Seven birthday girls! Talk about a celebration – there was cake, ice cream and plenty of punch for everyone.

Another hot month in Texas brings with it many birthdays to be celebrated at Trinity Mission. There were nine birthdays in August. One birthday girl turned one hundred and two years old. That was no other than Buna Guthrie and she is very proud of it.

Once again it is time to celebrate birthdays at Trinity Mission. July birthdays were celebrated with fun, cake and ice cream.

Once again it is time to celebrate birthdays at Trinity Mission. This month it is an all girl’s birthday celebration. The birthday girls are: Laverne Lewis, Beverly Carter, Sizie Thompson, Evelyn Pollock, Rosalynn Lee and Billie Baxter.

National Nursing Home Week is to honor those who take care of the elderly and a time to remember the people who live in nursing homes. Trinity Mission had a week full of different events everyday to celebrate the lives of all the residents and care givers.

March Birthdays along with St. Patrick’s Day was celebrated this month at Trinity Mission with lots of green and lots of fun! There were three birthdays this month.

“I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!,” should have been the cry at Trinity Mission. Why you ask? Because everyone was celebrating the birthdays for the month of January.

What a great month to have a birthday! December is the month that we celebrate Christmas and in the case of Trinity Mission they also celebrate birthdays, ten of them this year to be exact.

Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas and lots of Christmas Cheer. That is what was happening at Trinity Mission last week. Santa showed up at Trinity Mission to make a special appearance for the residents’ Christmas party.

On Thursday, Trinity Mission was filled with some of the cutest little second graders you have ever seen. They were all decked out in Christmas attire and big smiles.

Let’s have cake and ice cream! That was the cry at Trinity Mission from those folks that had birthdays in the month of September.

At Trinity Mission National Rehabilitation Awareness Week was celebrated to the fullest. 

Teresa Young, the CB&I teacher for Italy High School, is really enjoying her job. Last year she was the CB&I teacher for Stafford Elementary. With her new position at the high school, teaching life skills is a big part of her job. Every Friday Mrs.Young and her class go around the community and do volunteer work. This Friday they were at Trinity Mission.

Dow Anna McGregor grew up volunteering. Her mother, Francis Dunaway McGregor volunteered at hospitals, nursing homes, churches and people’s homes. So it was just natural that Dow Anna McGregor would follow in her footsteps.

Once again it is time to celebrate birthdays of the residents of Trinity Mission. This time it is, of course, July birthdays and as always lots of fun for the residents and their families.

Fourth of July at Trinity Mission meant hot dogs, beans, chips, ice cream and red, white and blue streamers! The residents had such a fun time celebrating the Fourth of July and remembering the soldiers that fought and died for our freedom.
