There were 8 birthdays celebrated this month of September at Trinity Mission. And of course there was cake and ice cream for all, along with lots of smiling faces.

The birthday folks are: Martha King, her birthday was September 1st, Sharron Osteen, her birthday was September 4th; Audrey Aldridge, her birthday was September 14th; Margaret Oliphant, her birthday was September 17th; Kathleen Smith, her birthday was September 19th; Janie Hale, her birthday was September 19th; Alice Munster, her birthday was September 30th and Jo Herrin, her birthday was September 9th.

This month there wasn’t a ‘man in the room’ as far as birthdays go! The women took the lead this month.

Jo Herrin turned 88 on her birthday this year and she is proud of it. She was married to her husband Paul Herrin for thirty-four years and had two sons, Charles Herrin and Randy Herrin and one daughter Beverly. She said, “I have two sons, one daughter, six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.”

She went on to say, “I worked at the sewing factory in Italy from 1958 to 2011. I loved it and I would still work there if they had a place for me. I was supervisor for about twenty years.”

Jo Osteen got married when she was seventeen years old. Her husband John said, “They said it wouldn’t work. We were both too young. But guess what, we are still happily married. The trick is to put God first and everything else just works.”

Margaret Oliphant taught English for twenty-eight years. She said, "I started teaching in the Italy school district and I finished in the Italy school district. "

“We are celebrating lives of our special residents on their special day!” explained Sarah Zambrano (activities director).
