Fourth of July at Trinity Mission meant hot dogs, beans, chips, ice cream and red, white and blue streamers! The residents had such a fun time celebrating the Fourth of July and remembering the soldiers that fought and died for our freedom.

Carolyn Powell (activities director) said, “We are celebrating the Fourth of July with a cook-out with hot dogs and all the ‘fixins’ and for desert, a red, white and blue ice-cream cake made with raspberries, blue berries, whip cream and angle food cake. We are really happy the residents are having a fun time and we are proud to be Americans. We have several veterans here and we are helping to make this day special for them.”

Evelyn Jenkins (resident) said, “We are enjoying the holiday and are celebrating with hot dogs and beans and remembering why we have the freedom that we have to do just what we are doing.”

Edith Baker (resident) said, “This has been a wonderful day celebrating the Fourth of July and what it means to us which is freedom to live the life we want to live. That is what America is all about. The main thing is to honor and remember the men that fought for our freedom a long time ago and in the present. Our boys are coming back from Afghanistan and we are so happy about that.”

“Fourth of July means independence. I always think about how it would be if we didn’t have our independence and I am happy we have it and get to celebrate it,” explained Margaret Oliphant (resident).

Another resident, Jo Devore chimed in and said, “Fourth of July means hot dogs and fire works. I love celebrating the Fourth and remembering what our soldiers did for us.”

Mrs. McGregor, volunteer at Trinity Mission said,  "I have lots of gratitude for what people did for us so we can sit down to meals like this, celebrate our freedom and be able to enjoy our families. A lot of our young men and women are over seas and I am so grateful to them."

Another great day of food, good friends and memories at Trinity Mission.
