Four days of basketball camp to make an impression. Four days for an opportunity to be a new player. Just four days. Four chances for glory.

For the cagey veterans, Lady Gladiator Basketball Camp 2009 was a chance to hone their skills, improve their aim….adjust their sights, shoot for something more.

For the upcoming Freshman, the four days of camp was a preview of what they might expect of themselves….and visualize what they could become over the next four years.

And for the younger players, camp marked their 1st steps into, what will undoubtedly be, an incredible tour of duty under Head Coach Stacy McDonald.

The final two days of camp were the toughest and the most grueling but they were also the funnest. Getting to know their new teammates and leaving behind their old selves were just part of the transitions each Lady Gladiator experienced.

They will be new teams. They will have new goals. They will be victorious in their campaigns as they dominate their divisions. They will, because they all went through something together, 4 days of Glory…

Camp Awards, Day 4:

7th grader Jaclynn Lewis egded out fellow 7th grader Tara Wallis and Freshman Alyssa Richards in a best-of-ten free throw competition to decide the winner for the camp. Jaclynn went 8-of-10 for 80%, with the pressure on, and earned a basketball for making the most free throws throughout the camp. Also, Jaclynn was awarded Best Shooter for the entire 4-day camp and received an award for best attitude as well.

Jameka Copeland was named Best Ballhandler for the entire 4-day camp followed by Paola Mata who came in a close 2nd by just a fraction of a second.

Brycelen “Cha Cha” Richards claimed the majority of awards available to the younger campers thanks to her consistency throughout the camp.

Coach Tina Richards said, “Every girl in the camp is a winner. They all worked really hard and gave it everything they had. We are so proud of them!”
