There was lots and lots of work being done this afternoon at the George E. Scott Memorial park. When I drove up to the park today all I saw was a sea of orange!

What was that all about you might ask? Well, let me tell you. It was about twenty employees from the Waxahachie Home Depot putting together equipment, digging holes, spreading gravel, and doing everything possible to get the park ready for it’s grand opening on Monday, July 20th. There were employees from the City of Italy there too working side by side to help get the work done.

Neil Brown, store manager for the Waxahachie Home Depot said, “We are here as a part of the Team Depot Building Project. Employees of Home Depot go all over and help put together parks for communities. The employees are off the clock and volunteering their time. Waxahachie Home Depot donated the fencing, all of the landscaping that will be done, the cement, all in all, approximately $4,000.00 worth of materials.”

Home Depot believes neighbors should help neighbors, and that is exactly why they are dedicated to working with communities to create play spaces for their children. Since 1966 The Home Depot has worked with KaBOOM to bring play grounds to communities throughout the United States and Canada. And today they were here in our city to help us.

Brown said, “We at Home Depot are just trying to ‘give back’ to the communities.”

The park is taking shape. Can’t wait to see it on Monday! See you there.
