The sound of laughter mingled with the clip-clop of hooves filled the air on July 25, as the Ellis County Equine Youth Association hosted another successful fundraiser and fun show at the Flying Dollar Ranch in Italy. Youth competed in halter, western, English and speed events to raise money for ECEYA.

The youth use the money for their year end horse camping field trip, participation awards and the Nancy Jessup Sportsmanship Award, which is a belt buckle. Although the day was hot, 17 competitors vied for ribbons and a chance to win numerous fun awards from the prize table. Sponsors donated everything from posters and videos, to model horses and t-shirts which were awarded by drawing to all of the competitors.

The Ellis County Equine Association is celebrating its 25th year of supporting all equine activities in and around Ellis County.
