Milford’s Music Festival – A Success!
Around 12:15 in the afternoon I arrived at Miss Millie’s Restaurant and Music Hall and was delighted with what I saw. There was a huge stage all lit up with wonderful music wafting through the air as one of the bands were warming up for a performance.
I walked a little further and the place was filled with booths sporting crafts, food, drinks, t-shirts, jewelry, just a little bit of everything.
The Milford Fire Department was there manning a booth. Chief Jackson of the Milford Fire Department said, “We are cooking BBQ, selling sausage on a stick, raising money and providing safety for everyone out here.”
Trinity Mission even had a booth. Chris Baker (marketing director) was heading it up and said, “I am out here with Trinity Mission at the Annual Milford Music Festival and we are selling snow cones today and most of the proceeds will be going to the family council. We are looking at buying library books for the residents and building up a library for them.”
P. J. Lieble with Milford Depot Cafe had a booth selling hotdogs and hamburgers. Doug Davis was helping P. J. man the booth and he said, “We have a bunch of really good food and we are ready to have a good day.” Milford Depot Cafe is shooting for the end of September or the first of October to open up.
There even was a walking advertisement for Pizza Inn – Ethan Burke was trying to sell Pizza Inn pizza.
I cannot forget Miss Millie’s Restaurant and Music Hall! It was open selling hamburgers and chicken sandwiches. Joe Kennerd’s (owner of Miss Millies) daughters were there and had this to say, “This is our Dad’s place and we love it. We love him and we love his place and they have the best hamburgers and french fries we have had in a long time. We love the music, the band Dalahachie Boys are very good and fun to watch. Can’t wait for next year.”
The evening performances of the Dalahachie Boys and Billy Joe Shaver were very lively and their performances were great. All of the bands out did themselves.
Lisa Phoenix (one of the organizers for the festival) said, “The festival was great, it was a success. We had a good turn out considering it was the first year and we are going to do it again next year.”
See you there next year!
