Thursday afternoon, Hosam Maher Husein Smadi, a 19 year old Jordanian, living and working in Italy, was arrested by the FBI for allegedly attempting to bomb The Fountain Place, a glass skyscraper with 60 floors, one of the tallest buildings in downtown Dallas.

Smadi, aka Sam to his Italian friends, had apparently purchased an inactive car bomb from an undercover FBI agent and tried to detonate the device. He was arrested in Dallas and charged in a “federal criminal complaint with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction,” according to authorities. The FBI said the public was never in danger during this undercover operation and Smadi was acting alone.
