Lightning strikes cause power outage at Stafford Elementary
During today’s storms, a bolt of lighting struck one of the electrical transformers that supplies power to the elementary school in Italy. The Italy Fire Department responded to make sure that there was no immediate danger. Oncor responded quickly and the power was back on within a couple of hours.
The storm had passed and the sparks had cooled when I had gotten to the school. Donald Chambers, Fire Chief in Italy, was just getting back in the truck. He reported that lighting had hit one of the transforms and that the school was out of power for the day.
About fifteen minutes later, an Oncor truck showed up. It took Oncore about thirty minutes, and the power was restored.
I would like to personally thank all involved for taking such good care of our kids.
