I would like to express my thanks to Italy High School for honoring the local veterans on Veteran’s Day. The program was so well planned and executed. It was a very emotional day as we were honored and appreciated. To Dana Hamby, you did an amazing job again. I hope Italy ISD realizes what an asset you are to our school. To Ms. Parker, your sincere comments and attitude were amazing.

To the students, I want to say thank you for your attitude and respectful demeanor before, during and following the program. Your parents and teachers should commend you for your actions. The respect you extended to us was heartfelt and wonderful. Because of the quality of our youth, I believe our country is in good hands.

To Michael and Collier, you played TAPS so beautifully, perfectly and respectfully. Thank you for sharing your talent and skill with all those in attendance.

To my fellow veterans, I want to thank you for your willingness to sacrifice for me so that I can enjoy the freedoms I have. I realized as I sat there during the program, I was free to celebrate Veteran’s Day in a public forum because of what you and those before you had done.

I also want to say thank you for the special tribute to my friend, Bobby Itson. I know it meant as much to his family as it did to me.

The Italy community is very fortunate to have the quality of education that our school system offers. I am grateful for their willingness to take the time and effort to honor those that unselfishly were willing to give their lives for our country.
