Everywhere you look at Trinity Mission you are reminded that Christmas is not far away everything is decked out with Christmas decorations. Gene Farquhar entertained the residents on Thursday with old gospel songs reminding them what Christmas is really about.

Gene was a music director for about thirty five years and is now resigned from that career to start his new ministry. His ministry is to tour nursing homes and sing the good old fashioned Christian songs.

Gene said, " I woke up this morning with a sore throat but I did not worry because I knew God would make it work so here I am and I am so happy to be here with you today."

He went on to say, “I will sing a little Willie Nelson, a little Elvis and a whole lot of Country because I think I was country before country was cool. Most of the songs you will know. If you want to sing with me you can’t do anything but help. We would love to have you sing.”

And sing the residents did, and clap their hands to the music and really enjoyed themselves. They were singing to: Blessed Jesus Hold My Hand, I Saw The Light by Hank Williams and A Closer Walk With Thee to name just a few.

Caroline Powell (activities director) said, “Gene is here from Itasca, Texas and he is here to give the residents a little Christmas spirit. Jesus is the reason for the season and Gene is singing all old Christian songs to our residents and they are really enjoying thinking back to ‘times back when’.”

Merry Christmas!
