Gregory Pope of Italy is doing his part to help the community this holiday season.

As part of his Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project, Pope and fellow Scouts will pick up Christmas trees for Italy residents on Saturday, Jan. 2. He said trees should be on the curb before 8 a.m. Saturday.

He asks that all decorations and lights be removed from the tree. Only Christmas trees will be picked up.

Pope, a high school senior, said he is part of Troop 234 located in Waxahachie. Andy Ellis is Scout Master. He has been involved in Scouting for almost nine years.

The Eagle Scout Project is the opportunity for a Scout in the Boy Scouts of America to demonstrate leadership of others while performing a project that will benefit his community. This is the culmination of the Eagle Scout candidate’s leadership training and requires significant effort on his part.
