IHS Library needs votes!

PLEASE VOTE!!!!

The Italy High School library is participating in a Microgrant program sponsored by Weekly Reader and an online community, called WeAreTeachers. The 5 recipients of this grant receive $200 to promote “literacy” in their school, as well as a Flip video camera. Recipients are selected through an online voting process.

If you have a moment please go online and vote for their project. Go to http://www.weareteachers.com/web/literacy/mg_vote and follow the directions there.

Each email address can only vote once. If you have multiple email addresses, please vote using all of them.

Voting is only open through Feb. 16. Please go to the web site and search for “Farmer” and cast your vote.

The project is called “Read It Forward: Pass It On.” The library will purchase 25 copies of the novel “First Part Last” by Angela Johnson, wrap them up, and place them at various spots around the high school. Whoever finds them starting March 29 will start the reading process.

Once they read the book, they will sign it, and pass it on to a friend or leave it somewhere in the school for the next person to find and read.

At the end of the project April 30 we will have a party for all the participants and have a drawing for the novels that were used. All students, faculty and staff will be able to participate and hopefully it will stimulate conversation about the novel between students and adults.

Please feel free to pass this information along to family, friends, and colleagues. The Italy High School library need LOTS of votes. A link is also on the high school library web site. Click on the Teacher tab.
