You might notice Coach Coker walking on air these days, his feet a few feet off the ground. The reason? The Italy Gladiator Baseball team. Why would that be? The game on Friday night proved to be another no hitter game (ok, that’s three in a row now).

Grand Prairie Advantage ran on to the field expecting to at least put some kind of tally on the scoreboard, but with timing and precision, the Gladiators stopped ’em dead in their tracks. Once again, another team of Eagles has been declawed.

The first inning gave fans the theme of the evening by putting the Eagles down after 3 players up to bat, three up and three down. The bottom of the first also proved to put the first 3 scores on the board for the Gladiators.

One after another, Jasenio Anderson, Trevor Patterson and Ethan Simon, kept the momentum building and it only got better from there. No score for GPA in the second and then the bottom fell out. Batter after batter came up and time after time we scored. Twelve points were scored in the bottom of the 2nd with Ethan Simon hitting an “in the park” home run for the final finale. Umpires said that was enough and the game was over with the final score Italy 15, Grand Prairie Advantage 0.

Runs for the night:

Trevor Patterson-3
Ethan Simon-3

“Another great job by the guys,” Coach Coker beamed. “This is Buck’s (Justin Buchanan) second no hitter this season-which probably is another first for Italy. They did a fantastic job. The main thing is I want to keep our guys focused and hungry. We need to keep plugging away, just like we’re doing,” Coker said. “All I know is if anyone wants to win district champs, they have to come through Italy to do it!”

Italy Gladiators play Oak Cliff Faith Family on Tuesday at home beginning at 6:30. Everyone is encouraged to come out and cheer on the Italy Gladiators towards championship.
