With one of the largest crowds in attendance so far, the Italy Gladiator Baseball team met up with the Frost Polar Bears on Friday night at home for a challenging district game. The teams played 6 innings but when the dust cleared and everyone went home, Italy defeated the Polar Bears 11-0.

This year Frost has a brand new freshman pitcher-Jacob Stroder #10. You might remember this last name as big brother, Sam, graduated last year from Frost with high regards in the baseball world. And, yes, they both carry the jersey #10. Keep an eye out for this young man. He has started a good beginning. As good as he was, Jacob could not keep up with the likes of the Gladiators.

This year proved to be more than the Bears could stand. Coach Matt Coker and Coach Josh Ward are as proud of their team as they ever have been. “They did a fantastic job,” said Coker. “The defense played behind their pitcher.” Justin Buchanan pitched another no hitter with 16 strike outs. Italy seems to be in their prime as they have gone five games with no team scoring. These guys are on a roll — a lot of firsts at Italy High School. Come on out and help defend the Ol’ Gold and White.

The next game is away in Avalon beginning at 5:00pm and again Thursday in Grand Prairie starting at 4:00 pm.
