Avalon ISD’s second annual Superintendent’s Super Egg Hunt
Monday evening Avalon ISD’s cafeteria was overflowing with hungry children and their parents eating hotdog dinners while anticipating the big Easter Egg Hunt. There also was a surprise guest, the Easter Bunny! He was ready to have his picture taken with all of the children.
When you looked out on the school grounds all you could see were eggs, eggs and more eggs. There were 4,442 eggs filled with candy and some with prizes. The kids lined up on the grass, the horn was blown and the race was on to collect as many eggs as you could. There were more smiles and laughter out on the school grounds than you could imagine. Everyone was having fun.
David Delbosque (superintendent) said, “This is our second annual Superintendent’s Super Egg Hunt. We want to bring the community and the kids and their parents together for family fun. We have free hotdogs and drinks for the community. All of the eggs, hotdogs, drinks, everything, has been donated by local businesses and community members. We do this to bring the kids and parents to school so we can tell them how much we love and appreciate their kids.”
The Easter egg hunt and hotdog dinner was created and organized by Melissa Gill. “This is the second year we have put on this community wide Easter egg hunt. Everything has been donated from community members, parents and businesses in Avalon, Ennis, Waxahachie and Italy. Last year we had three thousand eggs and this year we have a little over four thousand. The only thing requiring a donation is pictures taken with the Easter Bunny for fifty cents. This donation goes into our human resources fund to help families and kids in need.”
It didn’t take long for all the eggs to disappear from off the lawn and into the children’s baskets. Just another wonderful time at Avalon ISD’s Superintendent’s Super Egg Hunt.
