Jonathan McLean on Stafford Elementary’s rooftop again
Jonathan McLean (fifth grade science teacher) wants his students in his science class to succeed. He tries very hard to help them learn all they can. So, it was his desire to get the best scores out of his class for the TAKS test. To inspire them, he makes a deal that he will go up on the roof top of the school for the day if eighty percent of the class passes the TAKS test. Well, the class did it again and it was back up on the roof for McLean.
Mr. McLean said, “I am up here again because I made the deal with my students. The deal was as before, if eighty percent of them passed I would come up on the roof for a day. They well earned it. The TAKS scores showed eighty percent passed and thirty two percent were commended in the fifth grade in science.”
McLean went on to say, “The kids are thoroughly enjoying coming out here and making fun of me every so often. I am very proud of my kids, this has been one of the best groups of students I have had and I am going to miss them especially since I won’t be back next year.”
Mr. McLean is having to leave Stafford Elementary to work closer to home for personal reasons. He said, “It has been a great time, a great run while it lasted, and I will miss everyone.”
Decorea Green (fifth grader) said, “I think Mr. McLean is pretty brave to keep his promise because I am scared of heights, so I can’t imagine being on the roof.”
Good job fifth graders and you will be missed Mr. McLean.
