Three Lady Gladiators softball players were named to the Texas Sports Writers Association – TXSWA — Collin Street Bakery 2010 All-State 1A Softball Team:

Alyssa won the award as a freshman member of the Lady Gladiators and big sister Megan was a sophomore on the team this past season. Courtney was a senior leader on the squad and will be attending East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma in the fall.

Alyssa shared her thoughts after hearing the announcement, “It’s a big honor to receive this as a freshman. It makes it even more special to share it with my teammates, my sister Megan and Courtney. The three of us would not have received this without the hard work and dedication of our coaches and teammates! It’s a reflection of how well we played this year and the success we shared….I am proud to be a Lady Gladiator!”

“I feel honored that I recieved 3rd team all-state at 3rd base. It’s a privilege to recieve an honor like this and rewarding to know that other people are noticing our talents,” commented Megan.

Courtney added, “All-state means the world to me. I’ve worked so hard to get where I am now, and it’s a real honor to receive this award. I would love to thank my parents. They spent so much time, money, and effort getting me to this point and I could never thank them enough. Also I want to thank Coach Reeves, Coach Windham, and Coach Richards. They never stopped believing in me, even when I was stubborn 50% of the time. Last but not least, the girls. They have all taught me how to be myself, how to believe, and how to be a leader. I’ve enjoyed every day of those four years being on the softball field with them.”
