Ivan Roldan was presented the Italy Lion’s Club Scholarship on Sunday, August 1st at the Lions Club monthly meeting. Mark Souder Sr. (Italy Lions Club vice president) presented Ivan his check with many Lions Club members looking on sharing in his excitement.

The Italy Lions Club Scholarship was one of many scholarships Roldan earned. He also received the George E Scott Scholarship, Italy Ex Student Scholarship, Italy Athletic Booster Club Scholarship, Lone Star Cyclist Scholarship and the Caston Scholarship.

Roldan graduated from Italy High School with a 3.4 average. He participated in the dual credit program and finished with twenty six college credits and a grade point average of 3.8. “I got all of my basics out of the way and I am only four hours away from being considered a sophomore,” Roldan explained proudly.

Ivan plans on getting his Associates degree from Navarro in Medical Laboratory Technology. His goal is to continue on in college and get his four year degree as a Medical Technologist. This degree will allow him to manage laboratories in hospitals.

Roldan said, “I always knew I wanted to work in the medical field and because of the many scholarships I received I can see my dream become a reality and I am very grateful.”
