Wednesday at 11:00 AM, KBEC radio was broadcasting live from the Italy Dairy Queen for Italy Appreciation Day. Lots of customers were there, even Mayor Jackson joined in on the celebration.

Mayor Jackson was happy to be there and said, “We are glad to have KBEC radio here for Italy Appreciation Day and we would like them to know some of the things we have got going here in the City of Italy. We now have a pharmacy at Dr. John Arkusinski’s office, a company named Seville has purchased the Jamison building and will hire about ten to fifteen people locally. We have one of Mr. Hyle’s buildings sold downtown – there will be a shop there, we don’t know what yet, the EDC is trying to revitalize the downtown area, the Parks Board have already started on our annual Christmas Festival and the IYAA is in full swing. Also Triple A Oil, the people that own the Texaco are getting ready to build a convenience store, they own a lot of property and we can’t wait to see what else they will be putting in. We are very excited.”

Gary Bishop with KBEC radio said, “We are here for Italy Appreciation Day. We just want to thank all the listeners around Italy and everywhere for their loyalty to KBEC radio.”

Laurie Mosely was also there and had this to say, “I am with KBEC 1390 and I am the morning show co host. We have been hosting our Italy Listener Appreciation Day for approximately six years now and we look forward to keeping the tradition going. Our listeners mean the world to us, so it is always important that we get out and about throughout the year to shake their hands and tell them thanks.”

Shari Phillips (DQ Manager) said, “Dairy Queen is not the only sponsor, for KBEC Italy Appreciation Day. Helms Garage, Trinity Missions of Italy and Hobbs Feed and Supply are also sponsors.”

Michael Recksiek and his wife Lori were there, and Michael said, "I am taking my wife out to eat for the Italy Appreciation day. The folks at Dairy Queen are my family and so are the folks at KBEC radio. I have been a long time listener to the flea market. I love Mike Roberts and all of the folks at KBEC radio. I have been listening to them for years.

Some of the Public Works crew were spotted including the new man, Dean Carrell and he explained, “I have been working here now for two weeks, Italy is a wonderful place, there are a lot of great people here and I am excited about the possible growth that is coming up.”

All in all it was another wonderful Italy Appreciation Day at the DQ!
