Note: On August 20, 2010 new flags flying at the Exxon Station.

I usually just walk in and talk to managers or owners about this problem, but this is the third time its occured at this one business. I’m not picking on this company. I’ve called the school when their flags need to be replaced and I’ve gone into City Hall and mentioned it to them. Before school was out last May I worked to make sure my school bought a better quality set of flags so they would not fray, and we don’t leave our flags up 24/7.

I had to walk into our Exxon station out on the interstate Sunday evening. Since they’ve opened this marks the third time I’ve felt the need to tell them their flags were torn and looked horrible. Not just frayed, torn. The second time I had to call the company’s office in Waxahachie to get them replaced.

I wasn’t mad when I walked in yesterday but my tone of voice probably wasn’t full of glee, and the manager said he would buy new flags. I explained to him the flags are in very bad shape and its disrespectful to keep them up, they needed to come down. Apparently my message didn’t work because as I left for school this morning the torn flags are still up.

I had already planned to write this letter if the flags were still up today.

The number to the Exxon is 483-7600 and Victron Energy in Waxahachie is 469-517-2000. If you have a moment to make a call and ask them to display our national and state flags in the appropriate manner I would appreciate it.
