One hundred thirty two Italy Junior High and High School students of all faiths feasted on hot dogs, nachos and homemade desserts Friday night after the Gladiator football game. The members of Central Baptist Church were happy to host the group and have them come to the Cornerstone and enjoy themselves in a safe, Christian atmosphere.

Jeremy Beggs is the new Youth Director at Central Baptist Church and speaks of “Things Eternal” in a different way than most pastors. Beggs is a professional Christian rapper and sends messages through song. “People ask ‘Why do I do this?’ and I explain I spread the gospel through music-it’s about Christ-my passion,” Beggs said. “Christ is in your life with a purpose from God,” Jeremy said to the kids and asks, “What does God want you to do?” It’s been 2 years since a family tragedy changed his life and turned him around. Jeremy wants to help the area youth and give them the message, “God can transform your life.”

Since arriving in Italy in June of this year from Waco, Jeremy and wife, Jessica, are ready to minister to the students. “I think it (5th Quarter) went very well,” Beggs said. “The kids were great. They seemed to be into the music as well as the message. During the serious moments of the show, they were quiet and attentive. I presented the Gospel to them at the end so hopefully some of them that are not yet Christians took it to heart. I just pray the Holy Spirit will work in their lives.”

CBC holds youth group meetings every Wednesday night beginning at 7pm at the Cornerstone. Youth can meet at 6 to play Ultimate Frisbee and everyone is invited to hear the word of Christ. The next 5th Quarter is September 17.
