Red Ribbon Week, (October 25th – 29th) is celebrated each year at Stafford Elementary teaching the students about drugs. The students make a pledge to not ever do drugs and seal it with their hand print. Along with learning about drugs every day during Red Ribbon Week is filled with fun.

On Monday the students made a pledge never to do drugs and placed their hand print on a banner to show their promise. April Mathers (teacher) said, "We are stamping our hands on our “Drug Free Banner to seal our pledge to be drug free.”

Monday’s theme was “Our School Rocks Drug Free.” Each student dressed up as their favorite recording artist. Jane Medrano (teacher) dressed up like Cyndi Lauper and explained, " I am helping the students to know how important it is to stay drug free."

Tuesday was “Red Out Drugs” day and the students wore as much red as they could. Everywhere you looked you saw a sea of red.

Wednesday was “Too Smart to Start” day. This day the students dressed up like nerds. The students got in the spirit and nerds were seen everywhere.

Cheri Scott is the secretary to the principal and said, “Today I am dressed like a nerd because it is Nerd Day. I wanted to do my part by participating with the children.”

Thursday was “Team Up Against Drugs” day and everyone wore their favorite team jersey.

Friday was “Hocus Pocus Drugs Are Not My Focus” day and everyone dressed up in a Halloween costume. There were the cutest little goblins, witches, Woodies, Minnie Mouses, even Michael Jackson was spotted parading the halls of Stafford Elementary."
