The sixth grade at Stafford Elementary came up with a school creed, “Believing in ourselves today…Achieving great things tomorrow.”

Tammy Wallis (principal) asked the teachers at Stafford to get together with the students and come up with a creed for the school.

The sixth grade teachers, Karen Dalquest, Debra Prowell and Kristie Holley, did just that. They taught the students what a creed is and why it is important.

Mrs. Holley explained, “In my class we talked about what a creed was and how it should be short and catchy so you could remember it. We talked a lot about the need to choose the words carefully and I think the students are proud that they came up with something that will be here long after they are gone.”

A school creed instills a sense of pride and honor in students and teachers. It inspires, motivates and challenges the students to do better and have pride in what they do. And you could see this in Adrian Acevedo, David Delahoya and Peyton Henderson as they explained why the creed was important to them.

Adrian Acevedo said, “Our teacher told us that a creed is what the school stands for and we wanted it to be something that we would remember until we leave. We wanted to leave that legacy for the rest of the kids here.”

David Delahoya said with pride, “The creed means to always try your best.”

Peyton Henderson explained, “We did the creed with our teachers help and we wanted the kids after us to try their hardest. The creed says to me, do your best and do not give up on yourself.”
