On March 2, Stafford Elementary will be celebrating two big events, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

In honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, the entire school will participate in D.E.A.R. Day from 8:15 – 8:45 a.m. where every single person in the school will drop everything and read for 30 minutes. This will include students, teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals, cafeteria workers, and janitors.

We want to show our students that reading is important to everybody and that everybody puts education as a priority.

Then in the afternoon from 1:30 – 2 p.m., the school will celebrate the 175th anniversary of Texas’ Independence with a visit from the characters of Stephen F. Austin and Davy Crockett.

Navarro College students Jon Garrett and Brandon Williams will dress as the famous Texas heroes and share stories of the role they played in Texas history. Following the all-school assembly, the characters will visit the fourth grade classes of Ms. Octavia Dorazil for a question and answer session.
