The Ellis County Equine Youth Association is proud to announce their 2011 officers. The youth met on March 19, at the Flying Dollar Ranch in Italy for their first meeting of the year. The group elected officers, played horse soccer, went on a trail ride, and had a hamburger cook-out.

The Ellis County Equine Association and its youth club have many events planned for 2011 including horse shows, clinics, and trail rides. The show season will kick off on March 19 with the ECEA Warm-Up Show at the Flying Dollar Ranch in Italy.

The ECEA Buckle Series shows kick of April 2 at Mystic Acres in Terrell, Texas, and continue through July. Age groups include 12 & Under, 13 to 18, Adult, Green Horse, Open Walk/Trot, and yearling performance. Daily High Point Awards, Top 5 awards, and champion buckles are awarded in each age division. Events include, western pleasure, horsemanship, trail, showmanship, halter, English pleasure, equitation, and reining. ECEYA’s next event will be on Tuesday, March 15 (during Spring Break), for a Painting and Pizza Party at 11 a.m. at the Flying Dollar Ranch. Youth and any adults who would like to join in will be painting ECEA’s horse show trail equipment so that it will look great for show season. The hours spent working on the equipment will count as work hours for the 2011 show season. Every participant going for a year-end award is required to work 6 work hours at any ECEA event during the year to qualify for an award.
