Volunteers needed for Tour d’ Italia

Judi Rowe addressed the Italy Park Board Tuesday night regarding the upcoming Tour d’ Italia slated June 18 in Italy.

This is the 26th annual bicycle tour sponsored by the Lone Star Cyclists. This ride benefits Italy High School, Mothers Against Drunk Drivers and other North Texas charities.

This annual tour has routes from 12 to 63 miles.

Rowe, who volunteered to make the event more festive, said she needs at least 50 volunteers to work in various areas during the day. She plans to have spaces available downtown for vendors to sell their wares during the day.

She needs volunteers to aide at rest stops, to assist with parking and various other areas. Rowe said they expect 1,500 riders and up to 1,000 vehicles in town that day.
