This is where I am supposed to be
Janet Watson grew up in the small town of Frost, Texas. After years of traveling with her job she is back in the area living in Mertens and is the new director of nursing at Trinity Mission. She started her new position January 29th, 2011.
Watson has quite a fascinating work record. When she was a little girl she always wanted to be a nurse and her dream came true.
Janet started her career as director of nurses in the little town of Hubbard, Texas. She was there for five years. She then went on to work for one of the largest corporations, Mariner Corporation, which has over three hundred nursing homes and was the reimbursement nurse. Watson stated, “I travelled around to many nursing homes and worked on their Medicade programs for one year.”
The next step on her career path took her to being a Nurse’s Consultant for nursing homes. Janet explained, “I met a woman who was Senior Nursing Consultant for Senior Living Properties. She said I am looking for someone like you and she said she wondered if I would like to be a Nurse’s Consultant for a nursing home. She said you will never be at home, you will travel, and your family will hate it. She came and talked to me and my husband, she recruited me and I started traveling in the Texas area. And she was right, I was never home. We have been all over Texas, in every region there is. I did this for five years.”
Watson then took the position as Corporate Nurse for Covenant Dove for three years. She once again did a lot of traveling visiting nursing homes. So when she was asked if she would like to work at Trinity Mission of Italy as their Director of Nurses she was delighted. No more traveling and she was close to her home town of Frost. “They knew Italy was just five miles away from my hometown of Frost where I grew up. I also have three sons and five grandchildren that live in the Frost/Mertens area.”
When asked if she was happy at Trinity Mission, Janet smilingly said, “I love it here at Trinity Mission. This is like home for me. I already knew everyone here before I came. There is a feeling of family here that you sense the minute you walk in the door. I am in this family; there is a sisterhood here. So, have I felt like I have come back home? Yes, I feel I have come home. This is where I am supposed to be. I feel like God has lead me here and have felt this from the very beginning.”
We are glad you are here, Janet Watson!
