Trinity Mission’s new administrator – David Davidson
David Davidson knew he always wanted to help people. That is evident with his degree being in social services. He grew up with a pastor as a father and it just makes sense that he would be serving people in some capacity.
Davidson grew up close to Houston near Friendswood. His father pastored the Bay Area Baptist Church for fifteen years. Then his father had an opportunity to pastor a church in Alaska and moved his family there. “I loved Alaska. The time change was hard to get used to because you had light in the summer and darkness in the winter, but I really loved it,” he explained.
After graduating from high school Davidson came back to Texas and graduated from Wayland Baptist University with a bachelor’s degree in Social Services. He explained, “Right from college I worked in the mental health field for quite a while and learned a lot.”
His career then took him to several hospitals where he did discharge planning. This is where you make sure the patients upon being discharged have a place to go, they have someone looking after them, that they are safe and make sure all their social needs have been met.
Davidson has been working in nursing homes for about twelve years in different capacities such as, marketing, social services and for the past five years in administration. Davidson said, “I had to go to school for a year and then work a one thousand hour internship in a nursing home and pass the state and boards exams. It took me a couple years to get my license, but it was well worth it. It lead me to Covenant Dove which lead me to Trinity Mission in Italy.”
When asked how he liked Trinity Mission he answered, “This is my fourth nursing home with Covenant Dove. I think of all the nursing homes that I have worked in, this is the smoothest running one that I have ever worked in. Even the corporate office says this is one of the smoothest run homes. I love the staff and the residents. A lot of the staff have been here for twenty or thirty years and that shows a lot of stability. The staff is very caring and the residents are well taken care of.”
In his spare time the new administrator likes to hunt, he did a lot of hunting in Alaska and upon his graduation from High School his father took him on a safari in Africa. He also likes to fish, go to church and participate in church activities.
I asked him what he thought about our beautiful little town of Italy and he replied, “I love Italy, I like small towns. When I lived in Dallas I didn’t like the traffic or the craziness. I like the people here and everything is at a much slower pace. I am very glad to be here. Hope to get to know everyone and become part of the community.”
Welcome to Italy, David Davidson!
