Help from above!

When long-time Texas roofer, Marty Haight, learned that a team of volunteers from around the world was planning to build a church-in-a-week in Italy, Texas, his natural instinct was to pitch in and help.

Haight owns Roofing Restoration of America in Waxahachie, and is co-founder of the 3C Network of Consumers, Contractors and Carriers based in Omaha, Nebraska, whose members help restore homes and businesses around the country damaged by severe storms.

“If 300 volunteers were willing to come out in the Texas heat in July to build a new church for the folks at Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, we figured we could at least donate enough quality materials to ensure that they end up with a good roof over their heads,” Haight said.

He estimated the value of donated roofing materials from the 3C Network to be about $20,000.

Pastor Preston Dixon was elated by the donation of roofing materials and says the little congregation of about 300 was blessed to get a much needed new church facility. About $50,000 was raised to pay for the project, and Texas Baptist Builders arranged for enough volunteers to get the job done.

Pastor Dixon said,"We, the Mt. Gilead family, would like to thank our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ first and foremost, but also thanks to everyone who has turned aside to help us “Build Eternity.” There is a spirit of unity in this community, and to God be the Glory. Always remember that “together we can make it happen.” (Mark 2:1-12)
