The Italy School Board of Trustees held a called meeting Monday afternoon to approve two items — to hire a part time Spanish teacher and approve a vendor list.

Following a brief executive session, the trustees approved the hiring of Dora Bassett as a part time Spanish teacher. Mark Stiles made the motion followed by a second from Cheryl Owen. The motion passed unanimously.

The board also approved a 2011-2012 vendor list with a motion from Marty Haight with a second from Paul Cockerham. The motion passed unanimously.

Prior to approval, Mark Stiles, trustee, asked if any local vendors were in arrears with local school taxes.

Tammie Gillespie, business manager, said she did not think any local vendors owed any back taxes but would investigate the matter.
